INDIGO TIE DYE Mask by Alexis Giger
MASK MONDAY Week Two
The 'INDIGO TIE DYE' Mask by St Louis Designer Alexis Giger
These masks are hand indigo-dyed upper, recycled cotton muslin facing, and reclaimed textile ties.
Remember, each dyed section will be unique due to the hand indigo dying so every mask will NOT look exactly like this one. This goes for the recycled trim fabric as well.
25 Limited Edition masks
I'm a St. Louis-based designer who was laid off due to the pandemic mid-March. The day after losing my job, I started making masks. Using my hands to create meaningful work has kept me on course the past few months, and allowed me to reconnect with my roots in workwear and indigo dyeing. I have been experimenting with indigo dye for years, and have amassed a collection of textiles that, until now, I hadn't found the right purpose for. I hope to pass on some of the joy making these masks has brought me, as well as keep my community safe.
We are excited to share the proceeds of this MASK MONDAY mask with The Gateway Resilience Fund! These are handmade locally and are very limited in number.
